Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Adjunct instructors needed to teach Geology courses including Physical and Historical Geology classes at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA ).

Courses may be taught during daytime, evening and / or Saturday hours.

Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and / or up to 8 credit hours during summer session.

Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's / Required Qualifications Required KSAs :

Strong English language communications skills.

Ability to use learning management system such as Canvas.

Ability to learn and willingness to employ laboratory equipment used in student labs.

Ability to work with a diverse student population.

Adjunct faculty are required to meet assigned classes on meeting dates, submit required grade records and reports, student learning outcomes.

Classes maybe held during the day, evening, or combination of both.

Minimum Qualifications :

Masters degree in Geology OR a Masters degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in Geology. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications : Skilled in basic instructional technology and familiar with learning management system such as Canvas or Blackboard.

Experience teaching various modes including hybrid is a plus.

Experience teaching a diverse student population is preferred.
