The North Dakota Department of Labor and Human Rights enforces state labor, human rights, and wage laws and educates the public on such laws.
The Department is seeking a Compliance Investigator II to conduct impartial investigations and issue written decisions related to our laws.
As a Compliance Investigator II for the Department, you will investigate, enforce, and educate regarding : (1) Discrimination in employment, housing, public services, public accommodations, and credit transactions;
2) Wage and hour violations; and (3) Labor standards laws.
The duties will include :
- Responding to questions from, and providing general guidance to, the public regarding labor, human rights, and wage laws;
- Conducting telephonic interviews with claimants, respondents, and relevant witnesses;
- Analyzing evidence gathered during investigations and applying appropriate legal standards;
- Drafting detailed written decisions that include factual findings and conclusions of law;
- Conducting settlement negotiations as a neutral mediator between adverse parties;
- Conducting educational presentations on labor, human rights, and wage laws to the public;
- Serving as an education / training resource for investigators and assisting in the group review of written decisions; and
- Other duties as assigned.

To be considered for the Compliance Investigator II position, you must have :
- Additional work experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- A master's degree may substitute for the work experience requirement.
Remote from anywhere within the State of North Dakota or hybrid work with space available in Bismarck, ND.
$61,440 per year or $5,120 monthly with up to a 5% increase after successful completion of one (1) year probation.
