Responsibilities :
- Hire, train, mentor, supervise, schedule, and evaluate part-time student lifeguarding staff to oversee the Gregory Gym Aquatic Complex.
- Oversee daily operations : monitor the Gregory Gym Aquatic Complex and equipment usage, coordinate Informal Recreation activities, conduct inspections and risk management assessments, develop and implement systems.
- Provide on-site coordination of special events and RecSports programs : arrange services, coordinate set-up and take-down, provide event supervision, technical support and evaluation, operate equipment, and work with event sponsors in planning and conducting events.
- Develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures as they relate to the use of the Aquatic Complex, and consult with and respond to participant questions and concerns.
- Work closely with the Instructional Programs Assistant Director to schedule Safety Education courses for Facility Operations and assist in scheduling various water-related classes.
- Oversee Facility Operations compliance with various CPR and AED certifications, bloodborne pathogen training, and fire extinguisher compliance.
- Review Facility Operations injury and incident reports and coordinate communication with Facility Managers as necessary.
- Research, purchase, inventory, and distribute aquatic sports equipment and supplies.
- Serve on departmental and national committees and be involved in professional organizations.
- Participate in goal-setting and future direction planning, write proposals and give presentations, and keep abreast of developments in the recreational sports profession and issues on campus that affect the department.
- Serve in a back-up role for other Director I positions within Facility Operations, work on special projects, and perform other tasks as assigned.
