Azimuth Corporation is seeking a Communication Specialist , in support of a Navy Customer in Virginia Beach, VA . The ideal candidate will have proven ability to support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and provide photography support.

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Using journalistic (AP) style, write, edit, proofread, and copyedit a variety of documents, press releases, news stories, news features, mission features, human interest features, magazines, social media content, science articles, and other journalistic-type articles.
- Research, develop, investigate, and write a variety of science-related and human-interest news and feature stories through interviews, observations, networking, and library / online resources for publication in national-level print magazines, press releases, and online content.
- Evaluate and recommend the tone and intended audience of the story, investigate, and determine the validity of story lead, and collaborate with the creative team and other technical departments.
- Provide expert counsel on optimal social media and web layouts.
- Manage the Armed forces Public Information system (AFPIMS) web development and updates.
- Ensure all documents meet established organizational and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications field, public relations, or marketing and two (2) years of related experience OR six (6) years related experience in the field for public relations, public affairs or journalism related with experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release / approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements including electronic, web based, and hard copy material.
- Experience in social media platforms and use of analytics such as Hootsuite.
- Active Secret Clearance
Physical Requirements / Travel
- Must be able to work in an office environment at a desk and computer.
- May travel 10% to conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events. Most or all travel would be CONUS.
