Job Summary

The Substation Superintendent supervises and assists with the day-to-day activities of the substation employees and the project to which they are assigned, reports directly to Project Manager assigned to the project.

Superintendent must be able to perform the various duties while on the job from Groundman to Leadman.

This role supports the construction of new Substations as well as modifications, and upgrades of existing Substations for Electrical Utility Companies throughout Florida.

This is a traveling role that requires working in different job sites all over the state of Florida. Per diem is provided when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversees Foreman(s) and / or project(s) to ensure timely completion.
• Create, maintain, and execute the project plan to schedule and ensure compliance with budged.
• Supervise and coordinate all construction activities.
• Direct, coach and guide all staff assigned to the project.
• Track and communicate weekly project report and generates 3 weeks look ahead.
• Ensure project materials and workmanship meets the project quality standards and design requirements.
• Initiate and conduct project meetings with staff assigned to the project and management if necessary.
• Review and address plan details, resolve issues before they result in added budget expenditures.
• Advise Superintendent of any potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing / resolving such conflicts.
• Enforce site specific plans and procedures that are in line with EEI’s culture and safety requirements; adheres to EEI’s Safety First Culture.
• Shows commitment to EEI’s Safety culture through personal behavior and willingness to influence others.
• Understands and complies with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
• Review and submit weekly time sheets to payroll for processing.
• Working knowledge of computer operations and programs.
• Maintain the project’s daily job diary.
• Other tasks as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have previous substation experience
• Must be willing to travel around Florida.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30.
• Obtain and maintain a valid State Class A driver’s license and / or hold and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.

Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.

Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
