Responsibilities
The Safety Intern will support and work with the on-site safety manager and safety staff to promote and manage Walsh Safety Programs.
The Safety Intern position will be for a minimum of a 12 weeks. The Safety Intern will learn about multiple career paths in our company, and will be trained to become a full-time employee after college graduation.
Some duties and responsibilities include :
- Periodically conducts comprehensive EHS assessments. Recommends to project management corrective measures for unsafe conditions.
- Provides training and education to Company personnel regarding EHS requirements and recommends advancements to materials.
- Assists project management in the coordination of subcontractor EHS protocols, vendor and owner personnel working on company project.
Coordinates project EHS programs with subcontractors. Assists in planning and coordinating work to minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages .
- Conducts accident investigations and completes incident reporting for Project Management review.
- Establishes hospital and clinical care facilities for each project.
- Accompanies injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation. Ensures all EHS protocols are followed.
- Advises Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols; performs Environmental Monitoring.
- Administers the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre- Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.
- Facilitates orientation of all project employees to the EHS practices required by the Company.
- Provides a weekly safety update to EHS Leadership.
- Administers the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Seeking a bachelor’s degree is preferred
- The ability to work a 1 year work schedule is preferred
- Specific roles may require relocation
