Here's what you'd do :
- The Electrical Controls Technician is an Electrician with expertise in industrial control applications and CAD-based electrical drawing.
- Working in the municipal water and wastewater industry, the ECT is responsible for surveying existing motor control cabinets and instrumentation, creating detailed electrical drawings of control panels and how they will integrate into the surveyed field equipment, and installing, wiring, and starting up the completed panels.
- While this role does not involve programming PLCs, understanding electrical systems, dry-contact control loops, 4-20mA analog signals, and physically integrating equipment with PLCs.
- Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams of industrial control systems for project submittals based on the project's quoted materials and labor.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements.
- Review technical documents, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials when integration with control systems deviates from the initial design.
- Execute Product Acceptance Tests (PATs) on panels as they are produced and work with SCADA Controls Technicians (SCTs - PLC programmers) to resolve any issues discovered.
- Assist installation crews, as needed, with installing panels and their enclosures.
- Terminate wiring from field devices to control panels and test operation. In some instances, termination or modification may also need to be performed on the field equipment.
- Fully document the completion and start-up of the panel at the customer's location and update project drawings and documentation to an as-built status.
- Troubleshoot network, digital, and 4-20mA analog control and monitoring circuits.

Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an electrician and electrical drafts person in public utility, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in CAD software (AutoCAD, BricsCAD) for creating electrical drawings and ladder-style schematics.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in electrical design and installation industry standards and regulations (NEC, NFPA).
Preferred Skills / Qualifications :
- Certification in Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
- Understanding electrical principles, circuits, and components commonly used in industrial control systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing technical drawings and documentation.
- Practical communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot electrical issues and drawing discrepancies.
- The ability to interpret technical specifications and requirements and document them is critical.
