Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role in the Los Angeles area for a Sr Turbomachinery Engineer. The role will be responsible for the from-scratch sizing and development of turbines, compressors, pumps and associated hardware through design, fluid modeling, analysis, and testing.
The role will grow to work with a team of other thermodynamics and turbomachinery engineers as well as hardware design, prototyping and manufacturing engineers to develop from-scratch and novel hardware at increasingly larger scales.
This role will adapt and change significantly over time as the company grows and changes. Candidates must be willing to be flexible in their work and help do what it takes to build the startup.
Looking for candidates with very strong fundamentals and experience applying them in the real world including hands-on experience with hardware they have developed.
Compensation includes significant equity stake in the startup.
Job title and salary is variable based on the applicant and will be chosen to best suit the hire's level.

Qualifications
- Experience in first principles sizing and modeling
- Hands-on hardware experience required
- Expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
- Experience with the development of production turbomachinery
- Proficiency in fluid modeling and simulation techniques
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and team-working skills
- Highly self-motivated
- Willingness to adapt and change work scope as the company and projects change
- Able to contribute to and work in a fast-moving hardware-centric iterative development environment
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is a plus
- Prior experience at startups is a plus
