This position also provides substantial support to the Controller in designing and implementing effective, risk-based internal controls over financial reporting and in performing financial planning and analysis.
Position Responsibilities : Financial Reporting Assists the Controller in the preparation or review of financial reports in compliance with GAAP, regulations, and organizational policies and procedures, including : Quarterly and Annual Shareholders’ report Quarterly FCA call report.
Quarterly Variance analysis, submitted to the Association’s funding bank. Other reports as requested by management, the Board, or other stakeholders.
Research, resolves, and documents technical accounting issues as they arise, providing the Controller with sound recommendations as to the proper treatment of unusual or complex transactions.
Internal Controls, Procedures, & Audit Support Designs, implements, and maintains effective internal controls over financial reporting, including key reports and spreadsheets for the Association.
Assists in the fulfillment of the external and other audits by fulfilling auditor requests. Assists the Controller and CFO in responding to internal audit results remediation efforts.
Writes and maintains policies and procedures for areas of expertise. Accounting Operations Assists in the maintenance and review of the Association’s model for Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) and in the preparation or review of the Association’s allowance for credit losses.
Monitors and accounts for fixed asset activity, including acquisitions, disposals, construction projects, depreciation, inventory, an impairment.
Assists in the preparation or review of journal entries for other Association transactions and accruals. Financial Planning & Analysis Assists the Controller and CFO with preparation of materials for meetings of the Association’s Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) Prepares profitability analyses at the transaction, portfolio, business unit, and Association level.
Assists the Controller and Financial Analyst in the preparation or review of the monthly financial forecast and annual budget and business plan.
Creates custom financial analyses upon request. Data Analysis & Technology Performs user acceptance testing in areas of expertise, when necessary Utilizes existing and new technologies to effectively and efficiently achieve business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field 2 3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience, including responsibility for financial reporting and internal controls Public accounting experience in audit is highly preferred.
Experience with financial lending institutions is a plus. CPA required. Knowledge and Skills Required : Expert Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & COSO framework Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues.
Excellent research and writing skills. Working knowledge of budgeting processes and financial projections Skill in analyzing financial information to formulate logical and objective conclusions.
Expert knowledge of internal controls and developing efficient, risk-based business processes Expert knowledge of Excel or PowerBi and proficiency in Windows (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) High aptitude for learning and implementing new technologies.
Strong sense of professional commitment and independence, evidenced by ethical integrity, an inquiring mind, and a willingness and ability to work longer hours on a seasonal basis.
Strong drive and the ability to deliver results under pressure, prioritizing multiple projects and deliverables based on their inherent risk and reward.
