Position Summary

The Children's Oncology Group (COG), a National Cancer Institute supported clinical trials group, is the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research.

The COG unites more than 10,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children's hospitals, universities, and cancer centers across North America, Australia, and New Zealand in the fight against childhood cancer.

Our goal is to cure all children and adolescents with cancer, reduce the short and long-term complications of cancer treatments, and determine the causes and find ways to prevent childhood cancer.

The Grant Project Manager will be responsible for various research administrative duties surrounding applications for funding, including preparing administrative and financial sections on the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and other grant applications and coordinating with investigators on budget development to ensure timely submission, as well as associated pre- and post-award requests.

The Grant Project Manager will interact regularly with COG staff throughout the trial, data and administrative operations in support of the federal grant aims and objectives.

They will collaborate with the scientific, administrative, and study committees to ensure successful conduct of NCTN research.

The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Grants Administration.

This is a regular full-time remote position.

Full salary range for this position : $82,124 to $121,378 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $ 82,124 (minimum) to $ $101,751 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE.

The starting salary is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Grants Management : Assist Principal Investigator(s) with pre- and post-award grant management, ensuring compliance with proposal requirements and deadlines.
  • Application Preparation : Preparation and submission of funding applications, including budgeting and administrative tasks, adhering to deadlines and guidelines.
  • Progress Tracking : Oversee and report on grant progress, maintaining records and ensuring timely submission of renewals and reports.
  • Coordination : Collaborate with relevant departments and fiscal sponsors to facilitate sub-award work orders, addressing inquiries and ensuring alignment with grant requirements.
  • Teamwork : Work collaboratively within a high-functioning team, collectively ensuring all work gets done with occasional support on non-primary tasks due to critical deadlines.
  • Problem Resolution : Analyze and address research-related issues, communicating with relevant stakeholders and proposing solutions.
  • Financial Analysis : Works with the financial analyst to analyze trends and forecasts to optimize fund allocation for non industry sponsored projects.
  • Meeting Management : Manage grant-related meetings and assist with special projects as needed. Might be invited to travel to bi-annual group meetings or other grant meetings.
  • Compliance : Stay informed about grant policies, best practices, and legal regulations.
  • Communication : Assisting with report development and maintaining communication materials.
  • Process Improvement : Lead process improvement initiatives based on new policies and organizational needs, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years in grant administration, finance, or related fields, including knowledge of and experience with National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants, cooperative agreements and other funding models.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business or related field, or substitute with 4 additional years of related experience.

Other Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in research administration, including pre-award funding application preparation and post-award administrative management of complex, multi-site sponsored projects.
  • Experience in or knowledge of non-profit accounting, especially managing funds and grants, is preferred.
  • Experience as a research program administrator, with clinical trials at multi-sites is preferred.
  • Ability to gather, organize, and analyze financial data with minimal supervision is preferred.
  • Strong reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and common desktop / web applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks with short often competing deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well in a team and can relate to others effectively.
  • Creative, resourceful, innovative, reliable, trustworthy, and discerning.
