The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure, such as roads, railways, airports, bridges, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, power plants, and water and sewerage systems.

Job Details

Responsibilities :

As a Transportation Civil Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include :

1. Developing detailed designs for transportation infrastructure using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

2. Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labor costs.

3. Preparing and presenting public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, and property and right-of-way descriptions.

4. Overseeing and analyzing the results of soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations.

5. Analyzing the results of tests on building materials, such as concrete, wood, asphalt, or steel, for use in particular projects.

6. Planning and designing transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.

7. Directing or participating in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.

8. Managing and directing staff members and the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site.

9. Inspecting project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

10. Providing technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to industrial and managerial personnel.

Qualifications :

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications :

1. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) certification would be a significant advantage.

2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on transportation.

3. Proficiency in using WisDOT or equivalent software for designing and planning transportation infrastructure.

4. Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar.

5. Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, regulatory approvals etc.

6. Project management and supervision skills.

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

8. Excellent knowledge of relevant rules, regulations, and best practices in both government and industry.

9. A valid license to practice engineering.
