Mid-Level Substation Physical Designer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a mid-level electrical designer with experience in substation physical design.
This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Saint Louis, Missouri office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations
- Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, general arrangements, elevations, AC service calculations, conduit and cable sizing / routing, substation physical layouts, ground grid layouts and details
- The successful candidate shall be able to specify and select substation equipment; contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling
- Occasional travel will be required
Required Education / Experience
- Ability to function as a Mid-Level Substation Physical Designer in our St Louis office
- Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE / ANSI standards
- Experience in managing small project teams
- Experience filling the role as substation designer for several projects occurring concurrently
- Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above
- The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education / Experience
- Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design
- Experience with BIM style design software (AutoCAD Inventor and Vault)
