In short, the same qualities we look for in our people. We are looking for a Metallurgical Associate to join Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane Washington at our aluminum casting, plate and rolling plant!

The Metallurgical Associate performs tasks and experiments in an industrial laboratory and production environment under the direction of Research and Development Engineers.

Coordinates the maintenance, 5S and safe operation of all laboratory equipment and inventory areas.

What you will work on :

  • Perform tasks and experiments using lab and production processing equipment under the direction of Research and Development Engineers.
  • Performs field sampling, testing & measuring of aluminum products and processes.
  • Coordinates the logistics of sampling, preparation & testing of aluminum products.
  • Analyze experimental results.
  • Make recommendations based on analysis of results.
  • Initiate and implement new or improve designs or upgrades to equipment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop process and production improvements.
  • Write technical reports summarizing work.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies.
  • Manages experimental materials inventory.
  • Supporting plant safety initiatives through active involvement in the safety process.

What you will bring to the position :

Associate’s Degree in a technical or science field is preferred. Candidates with one (1) year of education, training or experience in a technical or science related field may also be considered.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Familiarity with industrial laboratory equipment and machines (band saws, circular saws, milling machines)
  • Familiarity with industrial mobile equipment like fork trucks and overhead cranes
  • Excellent problem solving, investigative, experimental, and statistical analysis skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
