Job Summary
Acting as an ambassador for Salt Lake Community College, this position entails making outbound calls to current, past, and prospective students of Salt Lake Community College.
Specialist will work in the late mornings through early evenings as part of a team that will utilize provided call lists to make outbound calls and encourage registration for classes.
Callers will be trained and will need to provide basic answers to questions about registration, financial aid, academic advising, transcripts, and other core SLCC Student Affairs functions.
Along with making 150-200 outbound calls per day, callers are required to accurately record call results. Accuracy is essential in these call results as call data is used to plan future campaigns and review student feedback based on these calls.
Hours for this position are somewhat flexible, but will fall somewhere in the range of 10am 7pm. Ideal candidates can work 5 hours per day Monday-Friday.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties The most essential duty of the position is to make outbound calls to encourage students to register for classes and accurately record call responses.
Specialist will also answer general questions regarding registration processes and refer students to other appropriate college resources as necessary.
Effective communication, teamwork, reliability, accountability, trustworthiness with personal information, and punctuality are all essential to the position.
This role will help with Contact Center Inbound call queue during College rush periods and when Inbound team members take vacation.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications Previous experience with inbound and / or outbound call centers and phone queue software.
High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in higher education.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Associates Degree Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively on the phone for several hours at a time.
Ability to record student data outcomes accurately.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
