POSITION SUMMARY : The Banquet Manager will oversee the banquet and club event operations in the Yacht Club and / or Country Club while upholding quality service standards and adhering to the Club's procedures.
This position will be passionate about providing excellent customer service to each Member and guest by performing the following duties :
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and schedules staff and plans room set-up based upon anticipated BEO events as they are scheduled.
- Works closely with the Director of Social and Catering to expertly execute all Club and private banquet events.
- Strong leader who can communicate effectively to staff, other members of the Management team, Members and guests. Maintains constant communication with event host during each event to ensure all expectations are being met.
- Demonstrates an understanding of profit / loss management, marketing, and management of multiple simultaneous luxury catering events.
- Strong ability to interact with staff (all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient with a high level of professionalism.
- Ensures all side work is assigned and completed, all equipment is properly cleaned and stored, tables and floors are clean and rooms are re-set at the end of each shift.
- Assists in ala carte dining venues as needed during slower times when coverage is needed.
- Ensures that banquet storage areas and equipment are always clean, organized and tidy and that all equipment is in proper working order at all times.
- Coordinates within the department the development, interpretation and implementation of club policies, standard operating procedures and training programs, manuals, directives, work schedules, rules and regulations for the staff.
- Coordinates with the Director of Social and Catering to ensure that all banquet and club events are billed as per the Club's S.O.P.
- Effectively manages staff and demonstrates the ability to maintain staff attendance, appearance, standards, work and vacation schedules, labor costs, payroll, absenteeism, turnover and disciplinary action.
- Supervises, develops and evaluates the service staff. Provides feedback on staff for introductory and annual evaluations on a timely basis.
- Completes and submits reports on timely basis such as : time sheets, schedules, terminations, staffing requisitions, revenue analysis, end of shift reports, etc.
- Addresses and resolves complaints concerning food, beverage and service. Communicates to Food & Beverage Management, Director of Social and Catering, Executive Chef, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager.
Takes appropriate actions with member follow up on a timely basis.
- Maintains inventories of all banquet supplies items including chaffers, props, displays, heat lamps, and linens. Ensures items are at par levels and always properly cleaned and stored.
- Manages within budgetary restraints. Monitors event labor and supplies. Makes adjustments as necessary to achieve financial goals.
- Assures compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards.
- Leads and organizes informative staff meetings on a regular basis including pre-event meetings.
- Conducts regularly scheduled training sessions to ensure the highest standards are met and upheld.
- Works in conjunction with other team members to ensure that appropriate supplies are on hand for proper operation of the dining rooms.
- Tracks new products and trends in food service and catering applicable to the Club.
- Any and all other tasks assigned by the Director of Social and Catering, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management preferred
- Minimum of 5 years related management experience, preferably in a private club, hotel or resort setting
Qualifications
- Florida Food Manager Certification
- Florida Safe Serve Alcohol Compliance
- CPR / AED Certification
- Knowledge of Jonas a plus
