Description
Essential Job Functions :
The primary responsibilities for Teacher Assistant include :
- Entering weekly grades
- Entering daily attendance
- Support students with work completion
- Student lunch time supervision
- Prep materials for instructors
- Supervise students on weekly field trips
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and support of USFUB mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
- Participate in USFUB weekly staff meetings.
- Attend instructor orientation / planning sessions and program activities.
The primary responsibilities for Resident Advisors include :
- Must stay in the dorms overnight
- Providing supervision of all residential students.
- Assisting in the set-up and clean-up of the UB residence hall common areas or other rooms used by the program.
- Assisting in gathering supplies for program activities.
- Supervising free time activities for students.
- Providing academic assistance during study hall.
- Supervising UB students during field trips and / or program events.
- Assisting in planning, coordinating, and implementing social, cultural, and
recreational activities.
- Following and enforcing the rules and regulations of the University and the Upward Bound Program at all times.
- Providing supervision during mealtimes.
- Participating in nightly staff meetings with the residential team.
- Supervising use of all program equipment and immediately reporting any misused, missing or damaged property to the Director / Associate Director.
- Assisting in enhancing the living environment and promoting an educational
atmosphere in the residence hall.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Directors.
- Prepare students for End of Summer Open House
Skills / Abilities :
Skills and knowledge to effectively work with students with diverse academic,
socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds.
Ability to understand and enforce all USFUB Program policies.
Education and Training :
Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education completed
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands :
- Requires passing fingerprinting and a background check.
- Requires certificate of completion of Mandated Reporting Training and USF
trainings related to working with minors.
