Job Summary
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a DevOps Storage Engineer (Systems Administration Staff III / IV ) with experience using infrastructure-as-code to manage storage systems.
You will be part of the Computational Services team that oversees the enterprise and technical server and storage platforms for the Aerospace Corporation.
This team oversees thousands of enterprise and high performance computing systems both on-premise as well as in the cloud.
We work with rocket scientists and engineers to develop cutting edge solutions to complex space enterprise problems and to assure mission success of critical national space assets.
In your role, you will engineer the design, configuration management and automation of our storage systems, which include SAN, NAS, object and HPC parallel file storage.
You will be working and collaborating with other cross-functional team members who all have a strong sense of shared responsibility and ownership.
Work Model
This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA, as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Join corporate IT team that provides the tools to solve some of the most challenging space enterprise issues
- Design and provide storage solutions for our engineers and scientists as well as our corporate business environment
- Architect and support growing NAS, SAN, object and HPC parallel storage environments both on-premise and in the cloud
- Utilize infrastructure-as-code to enhance and automate operations including provisioning, monitoring and capacity planning
- Work closely with other engineers across functional teams in areas such as Windows, Linux, high performance computing and networking
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Systems Administration Staff III :
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education and professional experience)
- 5 years of experience supporting enterprise storage systems
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Puppet, Ansible) and version control software (Git, Bitbucket)
- Experience deploying and managing object storage infrastructure including cloud storage such as AWS S3 and hybrid cloud
- Deep knowledge and experience with NAS including NFS and SMB
- Knowledge of backend storage technologies : object, block and file storage
- Knowledgeable with both Windows and Unix / Linux OS’s as well as networking technology
- Fluency in scripting (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate repetitive provisioning, configuration management, monitoring and operations tasks
- Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ CE certification or equivalent
- This position requires ability to obtain Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Systems Administration Staff IV include :
- 8 years of experience supporting enterprise storage systems including architecture and design
- Experience building and sustaining large scale infrastructure-as-code deployments
- Proven experience influencing and leading cross-functional teams
- Experience providing storage consulting
- Extensive experience architecting and managing enterprise NAS systems, preferably NetApp Cluster ONTAP

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
