The Program Director will provide executive oversight of clinical, research and educational activities of the NYS DOH grant funded Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease (CEAD).
The Director will also oversee the partnership with the Anne B. and Leon J. Goldberg Foundation and the related Generations Together program.
The Program Director will be responsible for all financial reporting for future and current federal, state, and private grants awarded to the Alzheimer’s Center at Albany Medical Center.
The Director will manage marketing plans for the Center as well as the development of new collaborations with other CEAD and dementia centers in the region.
The Director will develop strategies to implement new state initiatives and launch new dementia drug infusions in the Neurology clinics.
The Director combines strong leadership, strategic, analytical and communication skills with the ability to drive change and positive outcomes working with multidisciplinary teams.
The Director possesses a positive attitude and the ability to manage and anticipate the needs of the diverse community of providers and professionals that come in contact with the Alzheimer’s Center.
This position interacts extensively with the internal finance organization at the Medical Center and the larger medical community in ten surrounding counties, to build a collaborative, professional, and positive image for the Alzheimer’s Center at Albany Medical Center and the CEAD.
Setting a positive example of collaborative and supportive work styles is an integral component of this role.
Specific Grant Related Responsibilities Include :
Provide leadership and expertise to the Program manager and staff.
Develop systems to internally track data to assess the program performance against the goals established by the DOH.
Develop and monitor all applicable work plans, quarterly reports and budgets for the CEAD and the Goldberg Resource Center.
Produce periodic financial reports on the Center’s actual performance to budget.
Ensure that the Alzheimer’s Center at Albany Medical Center, the CEAD and Goldberg Resource Center are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders, as well as maintain and enhance our reputation in the community.
In conjunction with Finance, manage the financial / accounting activities associated with all future and current grants through the Alzheimer’s Center at Albany Medical Center
Develop and prepare operational and financial reports for internal and reporting requirements.
Review all grant proposals and identify and support all compliance reporting related to these grants.
Specific Responsibilities for Program Director :
Work with Center’s physicians, scientists, clinical staff and other key personnel to assess overall operations, orchestrate change, and ensure continuous quality improvement.
Perform strategic and business planning functions in conjunction with other members of the team and department of neurology.
Develop partnerships with the CEAD centers of the AMCH system and other cognitive neurology centers in the area to identify opportunities to better serve the dementia population in the region.
Develop plans on implementing new strategies for early detection and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease promoted by the State.
Develop infrastructure for implementation of any new dementia drugs (e.x. Lecanemab)
Development of annual marketing and outreach plan for the Center.
Represent the Center at a variety of community events and meetings. Serve as a board or committee member for agencies with related interests.
Interface with any / all community agencies which may serve to benefit the Center or its constituency.
Coordinator of the for AMC medical students.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and financial related tasks and will be able to work independently with little supervision.
This person will be exceedingly well organized, flexible and must enjoy the administrative challenges of coordinating and supporting an office of diverse professionals and projects.
The ability to interact with staff in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, often under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.
Master’s degree in Health or Business Administration
Senior health care management experience with proven track record of overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects with successful outcomes
Strong financial management skills
Strategic and change management skills
5-10 years’ experience in budget and business plan development, tracking and improving financial performance
Ability to build consensus among multiple stakeholders
Excellent time management and ability to proactively identify and manage multiple priorities.
