Jill & Lee Weiss Swim Academy Instructor Job Description
The J Swim Academy Swim Instructors work directly under the Aquatics Director and Assistant Aquatics Director to promot e water safety, increasing skills in and around the water in a fun and educational atmosphere.
Hours
Monday-Thursday 1 : 00-6 : 15pm
Key Responsibilities
- Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with the J Swim Academy guidelines through prepared lesson plans.
- Instruct / Teach with encouragement and positive reinforcement with consistency.
- Build effective relationships with students and parents to help connect with each other and the JCC community.
- Refer students and parents to move up and grow within the programs and introduce them to other programs we have at the JCC.
- Maintain all records as required by the J Swim Academy such as attendance, progress reports etc. Turn in all required paperwork.
- Organized and put away all class equipment. Report damaged equipment.
- Supervise and train class aides as assigned.
- Attend all in-service and staff meetings.
- Dress appropriately for all classes.
K nowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Must be self- motivated with interpersonal communication and organization skills
- Knowledge of all 4 competitive stroke s is highly recommended
- Minimum age of 16
- Background Check shall be subject to pre-employment or placement for over the age of 18
Educational Requirements
Infant, child and adult CPR; Basic First Aid, AED preferred; training can be provided
Physical Requirements
- Ability to instruct swimmers to proper stroke technique in and out of the water.
- Ability to life and move swim school equipment and teaching tools.
- Ability to lift small to average size child.
- Ability to remain outside in 100+ degrees for one-hour shifts. Able to assist Lifeguards in rotations and daily duty roles such as maintenance etc.
