This position evaluates and interprets patient data in reference to ICD-10 and AIS coding classification. Complies with NTDS standards in analyzing data for diagnoses.

ResponsibilitiesPrincipal job functions include trauma registry data collection, data entry, injury coding and scoring, and complication identification.

Ensures charts are completed and closed within 60 days of patient discharge.Validates data through the completion of concurrent chart review to confirm quality standards are met.

Works with the Trauma Program leadership by collecting and tracking data points to assist with Performance Improvement initiatives.

Assists in preparing data for site visits, TQIP and NJ State submissions.Other duties and / or projects as assigned.Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required : High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and / or GED equivalent programs.

Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR), such as EPIC.Experience working with a registryKnowledge of medical terminology.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and / or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred : Bachelor's degree in healthcare or other related field.Minimum of 3 years experience as a Trauma Registrar for a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.

Licenses and Certifications Required : Any trauma registry course certification (Example : American Trauma Society (ATS) Trauma Registry) at hire or to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Incumbents in this role as of 1 / 29 / 24 shall obtain by 12 / 31 / 24.Trauma-specific ICD-10 Course Certification at hire or to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Incumbents in this role as of 1 / 29 / 24 shall obtain by 12 / 31 / 24.AAAM AIS Course Certificate at hire or to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Incumbents in this role as of 1 / 29 / 24 shall obtain by 12 / 31 / 24.Licenses and Certifications Preferred : Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) Certification.
