The Team
Black & Veatch's Technology, Commercial & Industrial group focuses on the latest needs for clients in a fast-growth technology-led arena of advanced manufacturing, generative AI computing including gigafactories, data centers and distributed infrastructure. You will be part of the Data Centers Team delivering facility planning, design, engineering, construction, technology, and energy services to clients worldwide.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to :
- Function as a technical specialist or in a Project Lead role.
- Lead the delivery of design-only, design-build, and construction-only projects in Electrical Engineering deliverables for Data Centers projects.
- Provide subject matter expertise in Data Center design.
- Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff supporting detailed design.
- Work with a collaborative team of engineers experienced in Data Center projects.
- Build business relationships with clients to understand needs and drivers.
- Coordinate with local electrical utilities on project technical needs.
- Review supplier submittals.
- Continuously develop technical expertise in the specialty area.

Key Responsibilities
Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, and applicable codes; support continuous improvement and change management.Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables; manage data, calculations, budgets, schedules, and quality; delegate tasks to team members as appropriate.Lead and coordinate multi-discipline activity for projects; serve as responsible charge for projects where applicable.Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.Identify key client interests and drivers; support business development and client-facing activities.Recognized as a technical specialist; mentor and share advanced engineering concepts; apply data-driven approaches to solve problems.May assist with resource management for small teams and administer administrative responsibilities (policies, timesheets, expenses).Typical work is in a global environment with potential travel; May assist with site visits, scope development, and pursuit activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.Minimum of 5 years related work experience.Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record requirements (e.g., U.S. Professional Engineer license) or equivalent in applicable countries.Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in AutoCAD / Revit / BIM; ability to engage in diverse responsibilities and solve ambiguous scopes to meet client expectations on a fast-paced schedule.Professional communication skills, analytical??, and client-facing experience with top Data Center clients.Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering; PE license; experience in Data Centers and / or Data Center Facility Design.Knowledge of design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency; understanding of hyper-scale, edge, and colocation data centers; BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit work sets and project phasing; data analysis and data-driven decision making.Ability to lead projects including schedules, budgets, and staffing; contribute to business development including scope-of-work and site visits; strong leadership for mentoring junior staff.Certifications
Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record requirements (e.g., U.S. PE License) where applicable.Work Environment
