Position Summary :

Leads execution against the enterprise-wide vision, direction, and strategy for increasing the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in region revenue activities.

Translates the larger vision to a region plan to drive significant impact towards our DEI goals and objectives. Partners with the DEI enterprise team to ensure Region efforts complement and amplify their priorities.

Manages a portfolio of individuals, corporations, and foundations with accountability for a related revenue goal. Provides expertise, ongoing guidance, and support to region leadership in order to build DEI growth with a focus on volunteer engagement, corporate relations, and philanthropy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and leads implementation of the regional DEI revenue strategy, including identification of areas of greatest focus and potential impact.
  • Works closely with area leaders on the recruitment of diverse members to their Area Boards, Volunteer Leadership Councils, and other high impact volunteer roles.
  • Works closely with corporate relations team members to expand our corporate engagement through a diversity lens, engaging with Chief Diversity Officers, building new partnerships through alignment of our DEI priorities and their defined corporate social responsibility.
  • Expands engagement with minority-owned / led corporations including recruiting diverse membership to CEOs Against Cancer Chapters.
  • Increases revenue from philanthropic donors and foundations with an interest or mission aligned with our DEI priorities.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in developing DEI-specific proposals, partnering with account teams throughout the sales process.
  • Works across the region to fully activate national DEI partnerships in areas and communities.
  • Works with events strategic directors to provide coaching and best practices to community fundraising and distinguished events team members for increasing diverse volunteers, participants, and donors.
  • Monitors region diverse volunteer and donor metrics.
  • Collaborates with Strategic Directors for distinguished events, corporate strategy - operations, community fundraising, and operations to integrate DEI appropriately into all revenue strategy - planning.
  • Maximizes the utilization of volunteers to achieve defined goals; oversees the volunteer engagement efforts to ensure the volunteer talent and capacity is available to execute volunteer-driven activities.
  • Directs the utilization of best practices and available data to maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Identifies region needs (training, collateral, product) and works with appropriate departments to deliver.
  • Models and fosters behavior that establishes a culture that values the staff / volunteer partnership, and is consistent with the values, goals, and cultural beliefs of the Society to create an atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, empowerment, and dedication to the mission.

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, plus 8 years relevant experience in a large nonprofit or corporate setting.

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

  • Able to manage a multi-million-dollar portfolio of events.
  • Able to cultivate relationships with targeted systems / organizations including mobilization of a diverse population of community leaders and volunteers.
  • Strong market, community, and constituent perspective; aptitude to stay current on new and emerging trends to influence strategies.
  • Strong experience with community-based event planning and implementation.
  • Able to generate accurate income projections and ROI analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success working with people managers and leveraging indirect leadership influence.
  • Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources.
  • Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals.
  • Strong strategic planning skills.
  • Outcome driven; strong project management ability.
  • Collaborative leadership, management, coaching, and support of diverse staff.
  • Ability to connect nationwide strategy with local execution.
  • Able to work through others to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to create consensus among cross-functional departments and markets and bring closure to projects / initiatives.
  • Proficient in computer-based information systems.
  • Ability to understand and work within a complex organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of product marketing / sales concepts.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Travel, including evening and weekend work required.

The starting rate is $110,000 to $125,000. The final candidate's relevant experience / skills will be considered before an offer is extended.

Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
