Description :
Myriad Genetics is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) within the Oncology Business Unit.
The MSL position is a field - based scientific and clinical expert role . We are currently looking for an individual to strategically support our oncology portfolio of hereditary testing , companion diagnostic s , and all current and future pan-omic testing .
MSLs play a pivotal role in communicating Myriad's scientific advancements to healthcare professionals. The candidate must possess a unique blend of strong business acumen, market awareness, and clinical expertise, serve as a vital conduit of information and collaboration with cross - functional internal stakeholders .
The successful candidate will join Myriad's Medical Affairs team and will report to the Oncology MSL Manager who reports to the Oncology Medical Affairs Vice President.
Responsibilities :
Maintain MSL Expertise through :
- Demonstrating clinical knowledge of Myriad's oncology portfolio products and the science behind them.
- Being an active member of the Myriad Medical Affairs community through best practice sharing on regional and national calls.
- Staying current on research in oncology-related topics, such as reviewing literature for publications that impact our portfolio and business strategy.
- Attending scientific conferences to meet initiatives of the business unit.
- Continually educates self on market issues, trends, monitors the competitive landscape, and product knowledge as it pertains to specific business responsibilities in key therapeutic areas.
- Collaborating with Medical Affairs community by actively share best practices within Myriad Medical Affairs.
- Maintaining existing KOL relationships, while prospecting for new relationships.
- Establishing and building relationships with local, regional, and national KOLs.
- Conducting planned and impromptu meetings / discussions with KOLs at conferences.
- Attendance at scientific conferences : Represent the business unit at conferences.
- Professional Growth : Proactively manage your development.
Serves as a medical / scientific resource to Clinicians by :
- Answering medical questions and addressing other clinically related medical information issues.
- Assisting in understanding and utilizing consistent processes for assessing patients' risk for genetic and genomic (multi-omic) testing, explain test results, and discuss relevant guidelines associated with treatment and medical management options.
- Providing ongoing, up-to-date education to customers thereby increasing awareness of, and access to, genetic and pan-omic tests for appropriate patients.
- Delivering clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare practitioners.
- Supporting customer research requests.
Partners with sales team and demonstrates business acumen through :
- Collaboration with sales to identify accounts for area of primary focus and KOL engagement and develops developmental / educational plans.
- Attending sales meetings and partners with area sales manager (ASM) and marketing to facilitate and / or present information, as needed.
- Educating sales team on current clinical practice, guideline advancements and aids sales training.
- Aids in Speaker Trainings and Known Thought Leader (KOL) meetings as it relates to the area of focus.
- Identifying and prioritizing opportunities for customer engagement, growth, and education.
- Sharing field practices with sales partners to elevate their skillset.
- Evaluating effective MSL interventions and partnership with sales to achieve customer and company goals.
- Fully supporting and participating in the implementation of business unit initiatives.
- Timely inputting and maintaining internal database (Salesforce, CRM, Insight report, etc.) as it relates to customer interactions.
Qualifications :
- Advanced degree required : (i.e. APP, PA, NP, MS) in a relevant scientific and clinical discipline. Maintain current board certifications and / or licenses, while actively pursuing continuous education.
- Ideally, possess a minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience.
- Demonstrate advanced training and / or experience in clinical oncology. Familiarity with general oncologic pharmacology is also preferred.
- Understand genetics / genomics, genetic testing, and current service delivery models.
- Experience facilitating research discussions with KOLs and effectively communicating research results or clinical studies to a variety of audiences.
- Preference for candidates with established relationships with oncology thought leaders.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Willing and able to travel 2-3 days per week, occasional weekends for conferences / meetings.
- Effectively managing travel and maintaining expenses within appropriate budget.
Significant Work Activities :
Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending / descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching.
Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (>
2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day)
- Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday)
- Driving a personal vehicle / rental car and flying across the U.S.
- Travel : Yes, 20-30% and home office work, with up to 80% of time spent with customer and key opinion key interactions.
Most travel is within a defined geographic region, but additional travel may be required for occasional coverage assistance, educational or corporate meetings.
