Wood is currently seeking an Architectural Designer(s) to join our Life Sciences ( Biotechnology / Pharmaceuticals ) team to develop life-changing and in many cases, life-saving solutions for our clients.
While this position will report into either our Plymouth Meeting, PA location or Morrisville, NC location, we have a hybrid work environment.
On a global scale, Wood serves the Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Federal, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Mining, and Power Industries.
Our Philadelphia office has become the Center of Excellence for our global Life Sciences network, providing full-service pharmaceutical and biotechnology engineering, design, procurement, and project management services.
We’re looking for a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual with the ability to execute all phases of project design.
The candidate should understand the technical aspects of architecture and desire to continue growing withing the Life Sciences industry.
This individual needs to have excellent technical skills and be proficient in computer-aided design software. The candidate should possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and should have the creativity to shape innovative, unique designs.
Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of Life Science industry projects ranging from existing building modifications / retrofit to new greenfield facilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Architecture degree (5 year program) from an accredited NAAB University or a Technical College graduate with 3+ years of industry experience
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Blue Beam and Microsoft Office suite is required. Other graphic programs are welcomed.
- LEED AP is optional.
- Work requires a strong understanding of how design integrates into and impacts the complete multi-disciplinary project.
- Fully competent and knowledgeable of design / drafting principles and practices with extensive and comprehensive knowledge in plan layout and design.
- High attention to details.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem solving and organizational skills, and a sense of initiative are important for this position.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry / regulatory codes and standards is a plus.
- Ability to effectively interface and collaborate with all levels of personnel and management.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to self-motivate and work productively by managing time efficiently to achieve project goals.
- Willingness to travel to project sites (+ / - 15% annually) to assist in developing field sketches and coordinating on-site tasks, etc.
