The Scan Clerk is responsible for imaging paper documents into TouchWorks / Impact under the appropriate chart group, and patients into the unprocessed or stat folders, ensuring that only appropriate documents are scanned for permanent storage into the electronic record, and that all scanned images are legible with optimal viewing orientation, and correctly paginated.

Principal Responsibilities
- Work presorted stacks of incoming documents by IMPACT chart group.
- Identify the correct patient for each document and scan directly into the IMPACT imaging system.
- Review document pages to ensure proper chronological order & physical orientation.
- Remove any staples, post-its, etc. and repair with tape if needed.
- Reset the scanner settings as needed for color or gray forms.
- Review blank pages to be deleted, ensuring that no forms with documentation are deleted.
- Maintain productivity statistics on pages scanned and forward nightly to the Supervisor.
- Return mis-sorted documents, new forms, or forms not EHR-approved to the Supervisor.
- Notify the Supervisor of equipment needing repair or dwindling supplies.
- Inform Supervisor if daily workload cannot be completed as assigned, or of impending workload lapse.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Clerical / file or data entry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have working knowledge of medical forms or basic chart order.
Working Environment
- Office environment
- Some travel to Main Campus site for meetings / training
