Department Summary :

The School of Human Services at UNT Dallas offers two undergraduate degree programs. The Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management, and Leadership Statement (HSML) and a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) prepare students for work in the social service sector.

We offer both professional and academic certificates.

Position Overview :

This position is a tenure-track, 9-month term appointment which will be responsible for teaching four courses per semester and helping build and develop the Human Services Management and Leadership program.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly research and participate in service activities such as curriculum development, student recruiting, program assessment, program accreditation, student advisement, and committee leadership.

The School of Human Services is particularly interested in candidates with significant teaching or practice experience in alternative dispute resolution / mediation, arbitration, negotiation, cross-cultural conflict resolution, marriage and family mediation, or restorative justice.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Teaching four undergraduate courses per semester.
  • Engaging students in learning inside and outside the classroom including service learning or experiential learning, practicum, and active research.
  • Coordinating opportunities for students with community partners.
  • Advising HSML majors on their degree plans.
  • Participating in activities such as student recruitment, program assessment, and program development.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • PhD in Human Services, Social Work, Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or closely related field from a university accredited by SACS or equivalent accrediting body.
  • Two years of experience as a human services professional with diverse populations. Established research agenda or record of scholarly publications.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching human services or courses in mediation.

  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and / or governing agencies.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the administration of federal or state funds.
  • Knowledge of professional standards and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Actively engaged in scholarship with an established research agenda.
  • A record of publications in peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the field of study is highly preferred.
