Neurocritical Care Acute Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at BUMC Phoenix
As a Neurocritical Care Specialist, you will be an integral part of the patient care team and in the development of the neurocritical care service at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix.
Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix (BUMCP) is a 755 bed, tertiary, teaching hospital which serves as the flagship hospital within Banner Health and is associated with the University of Arizona.
The institution serves as a major referral center for the Phoenix metropolitan area as well as the southwest. The hospital supports numerous medical / surgical residency and fellowship programs.
The institution is a Level I Trauma Center certified by the American College of Surgeons. Also, BUMCP is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and has been designated as achieving Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
With over 130 ICU beds, BUMCP provides high acuity care for some of the most critically ill patients in the state of Arizona.
The department was the recipient of the prestigious ASHP Best Practices Award for developing a novel clinical program with pharmacist prescriptive authority in the management of acid suppression therapy.
The Department of Pharmacy has been featured as an ASHP practice spotlight for our advanced practice initiatives. Select Neurocritical Care Pharmacy Specialist responsibilities are outlined below :
Clinical Practice : Participates on interdisciplinary patient care rounds, provides direct-patient care including evaluation, implementation, and monitoring for optimal medication management on the neuro ICU team.
Academia & Teaching : Academic appointment at The University of Arizona, College of Medicine, Department of Neurology, provides formal and informal educational activities to healthcare professionals, and serves as a clinical preceptor to PGY1 and PGY2 Critical Care pharmacy residents.
Committee & Scholarly Activities : Contributes to protocol development, medication stewardship and safety initiatives, participation in health-system and institutional committees, and completion of medication use evaluations and clinical research and grant opportunities.
Oncology Outpatient Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, at Boswell
As an Oncology Outpatient Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, you will collaborate with our team of pharmacists, nurses, APPs, and physicians to provide supportive and direct patient care for medical oncology patients.
The Oncology Outpatient Clinical Pharmacist in our infusion pharmacy will participate in a wide variety of responsibilities that includes collaboratively evaluating treatment regimens and supportive care for patients with cancer, reviewing medication orders for appropriateness and completeness and ensuring the continuity in the quality of patient care through process improvement.
You will also work directly with our provider team to provide safe and effective care. You will be supported by chemotherapy trained Pharmacy Technicians, Staff Oncology Pharmacists, Clinical Oncology Pharmacists, and an Associate Director of Pharmacy.
This is a full-time, day shift, salaried position, working five 8-hour shifts within the hours of 6 : 00am-5 : 00pm. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

This position actively participates on the healthcare team as a pharmacotherapy expert to provide quality patient care in area of specialty.
Participates in the optimal selection of drug therapy and designs a regimen to maximize therapeutic benefit and minimize toxicity.
This position is accountable for on-going evaluation and documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care delivered to patients.
Conducts educational activities, applies principles of performance improvement, and participates in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee / Clinical Consensus Group activities as appropriate.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process.
Oversees the activities of the pharmacy technicians, coordinating workflow, and the checking of medications prior to being dispensed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Doctorate in Pharmacy degree and at minimum completion of a PGY1 residency program. Without residency training, a minimum of 3 years of health-system progressive clinical pharmacy experience (evaluating disease state & medication management e.
g. thromboembolic, diabetes, oncology, pharmacokinetics, pain management & nutrition, investigational studies, etc). Additional minimum qualifications include board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (e.
g. BCPS, BCOP). Board certification must be active and maintained. Requires pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
If not licensed in the state of practice, must have completed the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer.
Must be licensed within 90 days of hire unless the delay is due to the State Board of Pharmacy. May be required to possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company's auto insurance policy.
