Construction Safety Director
Our client is a leading construction firm dedicated to delivering high-quality projects while ensuring the utmost safety and well-being of their employees, subcontractors, and the public.
They are seeking a Director of Safety to join their team. The Construction Safety Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's safety programs to ensure a safe work environment across all construction sites.
This role requires a proactive leader with a deep understanding of construction safety regulations and practices, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence and drive a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and trainings.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments on construction sites to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide safety training and education to employees, subcontractors, and site visitors to ensure compliance and awareness of safety protocols.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain safety performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to continuously improve the company's safety programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage safety-related communications and documentation.
- Foster a culture of safety through leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications :
Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
Advanced degree preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction safety management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
