Summary :
The ADA Compliance Specialist plays a vital role inensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)within the HR operations of the organization and other relevantregulations to promote.
This position focuses on implementingADA-related processes, providing operational support foraccommodation requests, and ensuring seamless integration of ADAcompliance into HR systems and practices.
The ADA ComplianceSpecialist will maintain a strong understanding of ADA regulations,HR operations, and technology, with excellent organizational andcommunication skills and the ability to collaborate effectivelywith diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities :
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUSCompetencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader ofLeaders.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with theAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicableregulations at all levels of the organization.
- Oversee the operational aspects of the ADA accommodation process,including intake, documentation, tracking, and resolution ofaccommodation requests in accordance with ADA regulations andorganizational policies.
- Collaborate with HRIS (HumanResources Information Systems) administrators and IT professionalsto integrate ADA accommodation tracking and reportingfunctionalities into HR systems, ensuring data accuracy,confidentiality, and compliance.
- Design and implementstreamlined workflows and procedures for handling accommodationrequests, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and transparencythroughout the process.
- Maintain comprehensive andup-to-date records of accommodation requests, assessments,decisions, and communications in compliance with legal requirementsand organizational standards.
- Provide training andguidance to HR staff, managers, internal stakeholders, andemployees on ADA-related processes, tools, and resources to promoteawareness, understanding, and compliance with ADA
requirements.
- Generate regular reports anddocumentation to monitor ADA accommodation trends, track keymetrics (e. g., request volume, turnaround time), and identifyareas for process improvement or resource allocation.
- Conduct periodic audits and reviews of ADA-related documentation,processes, and systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, andadherence to established standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to develop, review, and update ADApolicies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect regulatory changes,organizational needs, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, or service providersas needed to support ADA accommodation efforts, ensuring compliancewith contractual agreements and service level expectations.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professionaldevelopment, with a proactive approach to staying updated on ADAregulations, technology solutions, and industry trends related todisability accommodation, HR operations that recommend enhancementsor innovations to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Represent the organization in external forums, events, orpartnerships related to disability inclusion and accessibilityinitiatives to enhance the organization's reputation and commitmentto diversity.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, managecompeting deadlines, and drive initiatives to successfulcompletion.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience inemployee benefits, disability, FMLA, and administrationrequired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Officeand other computerapplications.
- Effective communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate withcross-functional teams, build relationships, and influencestakeholders at all levels of theorganization.
- 3+ years of prior relevantexperience with a concentration on Disability, FMLA, and Leave ofAbsence concepts required.
- Knowledge ofFamily Medical Leave Act (FMLA)regulations.
- Knowledge of Americans withDisabilities Act (ADA) and Reasonable Accommodation, includingTitle I employment provisions and familiarity with relevantfederal, state, and local disability laws andregulations.
- Experience in HRISplatforms, administration, and experience with HR-related softwareapplications and tools for data management, reporting, andanalytics.
- Certified Leave ManagementSpecialist certification (CLMS) ispreferred.
- Certified DisabilityManagement Specialist (CDMS) ispreferred.
- Society for Human ResourceManagement (SHRM) certification is preferred.
