Kleinfelder is currently seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer / Geologist to join our team in either Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro, NC!

Step into Your New Role

The right candidate for this opportunity will be self-motivated and have 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering or geology experience.

In this position you will assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in execution of field investigation and construction oversight.

This Geotechnical Engineer / Geologist will also assist with review and compilation of geotechnical laboratory and field-testing results, perform geotechnical analyses and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drilling and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.
• Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, retaining structures and foundation installation.
• Assist with lab testing assignment, compilation of lab and field testing results.
• Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under supervision including soil / rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, and geologic hazard evaluation.
• Assist the Project Engineers / Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.

Ideal Candidate

• Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.
• This position will require 50% travel.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering, or Geology. MS in Geotechnical Engineering / Geology is a plus.
