Job Description for Gastroenterology

Type of Position : Full Time

Summary of Job Responsibilities :

The staff physician in the clinical track is responsible for providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI and Hepatology patients.

He / she will provide outpatient clinical and endoscopic services to those patients who require Gastroenterology / Hepatology services and / or Gastroenterology screening procedures.

In addition, the provider will do rotating evening and holiday on-call, as well as rotating as needed on the GI or Hepatology inpatient services, as deemed necessary by the chief of service.

Outline of Additional Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To :

• Maintain outpatient clinic and endoscopic procedures at UHealth locations
• Reading of Motility Procedures generated through the hospital motility laboratory

Qualifications :

• MD Degree and ACGME US internal medicine internship and residency
• Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine (or board eligible)
• Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or board eligible)
• Valid unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply (must have license prior to credentialing)
• Valid DEA licensure
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Must be able to provide prerequisite case logs for procedures for the prior two years for credentialing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
• Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements
• Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care
• Close encounters within 72 hours.
