Position Summary :
The Corporate Accounting Manager will lead and mentor the corporate General Ledger (GL) accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and managing the monthly GL close process.
Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, this role will oversee the analysis and explanation of period-over-period financial variances while maintaining SOX compliance.
This position requires a high degree of technical expertise and a commitment to developing team capabilities in a fast-paced, global manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Team Leadership and Development : Manage and develop the corporate accounting team, providing mentorship, coaching, and growth opportunities.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance : Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the corporate ledger and maintain SOX compliance across the team's activities.
- GL Accounting Processes : Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries for routine accounting areas; perform and review GL account reconciliations.
- Financial Analysis : Analyze monthly financial statements, explaining variances against established thresholds; identify and report on key financial drivers.
- Close Activities : Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities; assist with recurring internal reporting packages and special projects as needed.
- Audit Support : Collaborate with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary supporting schedules and documentation for the audit process.
- Financial Statements : Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements to support corporate reporting requirements.
- Dashboard Reporting : Prepare monthly dashboards for close reporting, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and additional financial analysis.
- Process Improvement : Identify inefficiencies within the monthly close process and lead the implementation of process improvements.
- Internal Control Reviews : Conduct periodic reviews of segment compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures to maintain a robust control environment.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- 6-8+ years of experience in an accounting role, with a minimum of 2-4 years in public accounting or a finance role within a public company, including some management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and experience with technical accounting and reporting matters.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize workload effectively and meet critical deadlines, including flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods.
