Description of the Role :
As a Transmission Technician at Jim Norton T - Town Chevrolet, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on vehicle transmissions.
You will work with a team of experienced technicians to ensure the efficient and effective operation of our automotive service department.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on vehicle transmissions
- Perform repairs and maintenance on transmissions, including replacements of parts
- Collaborate with other technicians to troubleshoot complex transmission issues
- Ensure quality workmanship and adhere to all safety and industry standards
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used
- Provide excellent customer service and communication
Requirements :
- Prior experience as a Transmission Technician or relevant automotive repair experience
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing transmission issues
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

Responsibilities
- Examine and diagnose vehicles
- Discuss repairs with shop foreman or service advisor
- Provide labor estimates and communicate additional service requests to the Service Advisor
- Plan work in cooperation with shop foreman
- Monitor repair time and update service advisor
- Maintain strict adherence to dealership policies on vehicle care and operation
- Assist in mentoring technician trainees
- Attend company and factory training and keep current with factory technical bulletins
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations (such as disposal of hazardous waste)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Although equivalent education / experience will be considered, ideally you have 1 to 3 months of relevant experience and / or training
- Operator Driver’s License
- State Inspection License
- Solid skills and a strong work ethic
Physical Requirements
- The physical requirements of the position are Light to Medium Work.
- Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable necessary to drive vehicles safely.
- Constant : Standing, walking, talking, hearing, and typing.
- Frequent Repetitive motion.
- Occasional Balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting ( 15-20 lbs.)
Physical Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside and outside environmental working conditions including but not limited to : temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, minor potential physical hazards as electrical, mechanical, and cleaning equipment, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with operating an auto dealership.
