Job Duties
The Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Department of Computer and Information Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 3-year, non-tenure track contract faculty position.
The appointment begins as soon as August 1, 2023 and may be extended beyond the initial 3- year term.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate computer science courses with additional responsibilities in student advising and development, scholarship, and professional citizenship (to be negotiated).
Candidates accepting responsibilities in all areas will teach a standard load of 3 class sections (9 teaching credits) a semester.
Candidates accepting less responsibilities will teach a load of 4 class sections (12 teaching credits) a semester.
Members of the faculty wear uniforms and adhere to military customs and courtesy although military experience is not required.
Minimum Qualifications
- The position requires a minimum of a master’s in computer science or a closely related field; a Ph.D. is preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching, including the ability to mentor undergraduates in research projects, and have a scholarly agenda.
Additional Considerations
Candidates with expertise in networking, cybersecurity, and information technology will be preferred.
