This Cardiovascular Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for :
- Conceptualizing, designing and developing new medical devices and technologies including surgical and catheter devices, 3D modeling and simulation techniques in collaboration with the team
- Designing and conducting benchtop experiments to complement and / or refine designs and validating computational modeling studies as part of the development process
- Working with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient information, understand clinical needs, refine the design and apply the new technologies
- Collaborating with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols
- Performing statistical analysis of experimental results
- Preparing oral and written reports for presentation locally and at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals
- Documenting inventions
- Researching and assisting with preparation of intellectual property filings
To qualify, you must have :
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Master's degree preferred
- Expertise in mechanical design and computer modeling and design software
- Experience prototyping, development of benchtop models and device testing and validation with 3D printing experience a plus
- Basic knowledge of the mechanics of soft tissues
- Programming proficiency in one or more scientific computing languages
- The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with both medical and engineering personnel
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies
