Within a small team environment, under the direction of the Winemaking team, the Wine Cellar Hand will contribute to all aspects of winemaking process and will help oversee and participate in all cellar operations from grape to bottle and hands-on help with vineyard work.
This is an on your feet, working with your hands, using your body all day kind of job.
The qualified candidate will possess a desire to learn about the winemaking process and have an unwavering desire to make compelling wines by being engaged every step of the way through quality and hard work.
Cellar Duties :
- Executes winemaking protocols as directed
- General winery work, including : cleaning and sanitizing tanks, totes, equipment, hoses, and drains.
- Assist in all winemaking tasks
- Assist with wine deliveries or errands related to the winery
- Maintain proper sanitation in all areas of the winery
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment from trucks and trailers
- Assist with filtering and bottling of wine as directed
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility, equipment, and working spaces up to standards
- Maintain records in accordance with our requirements and applicable government
requirements as directed
- Assist with wine storage and movement for maximum storage and safety
- Facilitate the testing of juice and wine and making necessary additions and / or
corrections as directed by the winemaking team
- Conduct inventories of raw materials, supplies, and finished products
- Assist with basic facility repairs and maintenance
- Must complete pesticide training and certification program.
Vineyard Duties :
- Must complete pesticide training and certification program
- Cultivation, thinning, pruning, typing, suckering, canopy management, planting and replanting, irrigating and harvesting.
- Pest, fungicide and herbicide management
- Irrigation; monitoring and making recommendations related to the vineyard and grape quality.
- Erosion control, frost protection (if needed).
- Must be able to reasonably estimate harvest timing.
- Search out and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions and deliver quality grapes.
- Increases / improves fruit and wine quality through observation and viticultural decisions.
- Works with Owner and Assist Winemaker to review vineyard performance and wine quality to determine annual pruning strategies, or other vineyard practices that may affect yield or grape quality.
Requirements :
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a quality-oriented workplace
- Ability to work outside and subject to current weather conditions
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Relevant laboratory experience preferred, but not required
- Forklift proficiency or desire to become forklift certified
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- General computer literacy
- Ability to work long hours when required
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and work in some difficult conditions, including but
not limited to hot, cold and wet environments, on slippery surfaces, and on ladders
and in high places.

Full Time : Monday- Friday.
Full availability during Harvest Season
Salary : 22.00-27.00 hourly based on experience
