Staff Accountant - Growing Real Estate Firm
Our client, a rapidly expanding real estate company based in Westport, owns and operates multiple properties across various regions.
With a strong pipeline of developments on the East Coast and Midwest, they are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join their growing team.
Position Summary : The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting and supporting various accounting functions, including the financial close process.
Key Responsibilities :
- Process journal entries, billing, and cash receipts in the accounting system.
- Prepare supporting schedules for expense allocations and estimates.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, analyze discrepancies, and assist with the month-end close.
- Conduct variance analysis on general ledger accounts.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and monthly close reports.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews with property management, interpreting and analyzing operational data.
- Prepare financial reports for upper management.
- Assist with external audits and fulfill corporate reporting requirements.
- Develop and document policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Yardi or other accounting software is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
