Summary
The purpose of the Fire Safety Technician is to install, operate, repair, inspect and maintain fire safety monitoring, control, and suppression equipment and related devices throughout the medical center and the various outreach clinics.
Responsibilities
License Requirements : Must possess or acquire (within 6 months of hire) a valid license from Baltimore City Fire Department for repairing, recharging, testing and installing fire extinguishing equipment.
Must possess a valid driver license.

- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following :
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Meditech (if applicable to position)
- Epic (if applicable to position)
- Performance Manager / NetLearning Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Other Requirements : Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of circuitry and troubleshooting. Must possess skills in maintaining, inspecting, installing, testing, and troubleshooting complex fire safety control systems in a large commercial, industrial or healthcare setting.
Must possess skills of inspecting, testing and recharging fire extinguishers. Must be able to attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience :
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess 1-3 years of experience in maintaining, inspecting, installing, testing, and troubleshooting complex fire safety control systems in a large commercial, industrial or healthcare setting.
- At least 1 year experience in inspecting, testing and recharging fires extinguishers.
