Summary :
The Shelter Manager will be responsible for overseeing the 24hr / 7 day-to-day operations of the emergency shelter site.
Availability : Ideal candidates for these response missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.
These are contract positions, and if activated, they will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide consistent supervision and support to emergency shelters to ensure safe and efficient provision of services to all residents and staff.
- Ensure all shelter residents have timely access to shelter services (meals, laundry, toiletries, medications, etc.)
- Meet regularly with staff to discuss assignments and keep them informed of current and updated policies and procedures.
- Create and coordinate the schedules of the shelter support staff to ensure there is 24-hour / 7 days a week coverage at the facility.
- Overseeing social services operations and seamless transitions from one shift to the next.
- Provide coverage for shelter support staff as needed.
- On call 24 / 7 to respond to emergencies.
- Supervises one or more direct reports; defines scope of work and assignment of tasks to direct reports and provides training.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to day-to-day management
- Tracks project deliverables using internal data management and project execution tools.
- Takes primary responsibility for quality control and quality assurance to the client.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience with a minimum of three (3) years' professional service experience managing emergency shelters or similar programs.
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role required.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task, and determine priorities.
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Programs. (Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to work flexible hours to support 24 / 7 / 365 shelter operations.
