Supplemental Information : Hourly rate of $70 per hour is equivalent to the base rate of $40 / hour multiplied by the number of hours per course times 1.

75 hours which covers office hours and prep time for instructional activities. Activities conducted outside of teaching (non-instructional), require approval and will be paid at the base hourly rate of $40.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Dean of Manufacturing, Construction & Transportation, this person will plan, develop, and revise a program of instruction and to teach sheet metal courses in the apprenticeship program.

Related duties include acquisition of supplies and equipment, upkeep of laboratory facilities and equipment, participation in division and department activities, and the performance of duties as assigned.

May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites during the day, evening, and / or weekend.

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom / laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education / training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education :

  • Must have completed an apprenticeship in Sheet Metal or Environmental Service Technician; OR
  • Have a signed letter, on official letterhead, from local 18 Sheet Metal JATC approving your potential appointment.

Required Occupational Experience :

  • Must have five (5) years (10,000 hours) of work experience as an apprentice or Journey worker (or both) in Sheet Metal / Construction OR Environmental Service Technician.
  • In addition, one of the following must be met
  • At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years OR
  • Two years of teaching Sheet Metal or Environmental Service Technician course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years (1 year of teaching experience equivalent to 2 semesters full-time, or 4 semester part-time).
  • Must hold approval to teach from an appropriate apprenticeship advisory committee.
  • Must hold Journey-Level status in Sheet Metal / Construction or Journey level status in Environmental Service or have a signed letter, on official letterhead, from local 18 Sheet Metal JATC approving your potential appointment.

Supplemental Information

Start Date :

This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the Fall 2024 semester.

Hours : This position is up to a .5 FTE and the number of hours, shift worked per week, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need.

Location is at Oak Creek Campus.

Salary : Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching.

Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.

This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY / EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.

HEALTH INSURANCE : MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types :

Note : All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.

DENTAL INSURANCE : MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.

Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE : MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College.

The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS : If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility.

The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.8%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.

8% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS : MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS : Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.

VACATION BENEFITS : Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)

PAID HOLIDAYS : MATC offers paid / flex holidays based on position.
