Is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned dietary services which may include patient meal services, café services, food and snack vending, coffee services.
Supervises team(s) consisting of cooks and dietary aides. This position would support David Simpson Hospice House and our HQ cafe both located in close proximity of each other in Cleveland, Ohio.
WHAT YOU WILL DO :
- Dietary Supervisor with direct reports of dietary staff
- Manage day-to-day operations of assigned dietary services
- Provide coverage for non-assigned dietary services as needed / requested
- Assist with staff evaluations
- Participate in hiring, retention, disciplinary actions, and separations
- Ensure ongoing compliance, including documentation, with health department and regulatory standards
- Ensure staff education and other employment requirements are maintained and completed
- Complete dietary services order for responsible areas in alignment with food service menu standards
- Manage within allocated resources
- Complete staff scheduling
- Provide staff support in alignment with agency initiatives
- Provide supervisor coverage for dietary services at other locations as needed.
SUCCESS CAPABILITIES :
- Graduation from high school
- A Certified Dietary Manager certificate or equivalent is required. Must complete within one year of hire.
- ServSafe Level 2 required within 6 months of hire.
- Health care experience preferred
- Ability to adhere to safety precautions and effectively use commercial kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge in the field or fields related to the specific job assignment
- Ability to plan, organize and administer programs and / or projects
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to be unbiased, honest, and fair regarding evaluating employees
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely and effective manner
- Ability to articulate effectively and respond to questions
- Ability to understand and execute complex verbal instructions
- Ability to always deliver excellent customer service, both internally and externally
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a part of a transdisciplinary team
- Demonstrates good working relationships with Director of Dietary Services as well as the Dietitian
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to react effectively and calmly in emergencies
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and other computer software, preferably Microsoft
- Office, and in the use of general office equipment
- Proven attendance record

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Compliance to Annual Flu Shot Policy or ability to provide exemption documentation
- Provide an active auto insurance policy as a licensed driver in the State of Ohio with the proper level of coverage as directed
- Provide an active driver’s license
- Ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
