Description :
The Morgan Oliver School is seeking an energetic and passionate support specialist for our Allies classroom. Our school is a small anti racist community school serving kids 5-12.
We are located in a bungalow in the neighborhood of Kirkwood, Atlanta. This will be a co teaching role designed to support children in their social emotional wellbeing and conduct mini groups for reading and math instruction.
Special skills or talents are welcome. We are seeking a warm and flexible teacher who is interested in developing their practice and is adaptable to various needs of a small school.
This role is a salary position with all applicable school breaks off.
Responsibilities :
As a part of this role, you will :
- Support the lead and associate teacher in a classroom of 15 kids 5-7
- Perform auxiliary tasks on a rotating basis with other teachers and staff
- Conduct small group instruction in reading and math
- Ensure students are engaged and support children experiencing challenges
Requirements
- An exuberance and excitement for elementary age children
- At least 2 years working with elementary age children in some capacity
- An ability to develop relationships across socioeconomic backgrounds and an excitement to grow from the proximity of them.
- An innate desire to learn more and discover
- Self motivating and able to structure ones small groups and class rhythm and flow
- Ability to communicate compassionately to colleagues
- Flexibility in thoughts and ideas as we are a small startup school

Where We Work : The Morgan Oliver School is located in a bungalow in Kirkwood, across from Pullman Pratt yard, and walking distance from Marta on Dekalb Avenue.
