DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Scarborough, ME.
You will make an impact in the following ways :
Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
Perform maintenance / repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
Ongoing development / certifications on new and existing Cummins products
Maintain own tools
RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following :
Advanced) :
Ability to troubleshoot with limited / no support from diagnostic tools
Larger more complicated engine rebuilds
Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
Education, Licenses, Certifications :
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience :
Advanced level knowledge of and / or experience with engine products
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position will be tasked with a diverse set of responsibilities that span both our In-Shop Departments and Field Service team.
This role is particularly suited for individuals with an adaptive personality, capable of managing cross-functional tasks.
A background in power generation and familiarity with marine terminology are essential, as is the ability to work safely within confined spaces.
Additionally, possession of a class A driver's license is preferred, though candidates should be prepared to obtain this license within a 12-month timeframe if they do not already have it.
This position is not only technical but also dynamic, requiring a blend of practical skills and the flexibility to meet various operational demands.
A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free of major violations
This role is subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing requirements and on going random drug and alcohol testing
This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
