Definition of Classification :
The Chemistry Department at the University of Redlands is seeking to hire a tenure-track inorganic chemist at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2025.
Primary teaching responsibilities will include an upper-level Inorganic Chemistry course, General Chemistry lectures and laboratories, and Organic Chemistry laboratories.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a productive research program involving undergraduate students. Research areas of particular interest to the department are organometallic chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, or other areas that cross the traditional boundaries of the subdisciplines of chemistry.
Collaborations may also exist with our neighboring institutions such as LLUMC, UC-Irvine and the Keck Graduate School. Candidates must demonstrate a strong dedication to teaching and mentoring incoming students with diverse backgrounds, including students that may have little to no background in chemistry.

Doctorate degree (or near completion of degree) in chemistry.

Working Conditions :
Standard classroom / office setting. Duties performed are primarily in a classroom / office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings.
At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
Physical Demands :
- Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; walk short distances on a regular basis; may travel to various locations to attend meetings and conduct work;
- use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs;
- stoop or kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer;
hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift, carry and / or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
