We're looking for a Database Specialist inspired by the scientific work that goes into improving a child's quality of life.

The Database Specialist's primary responsibility is to manage a variety of data support tasks during the test development process.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in database management and organization, and a desire to learn and grow with the company.

This includes the skills to write code to clean / organize data, review data for validity, and confirm the accuracy of data analysis results in programming languages such as R, Python, SPSS, and Stata.

You should have a sharp eye for detail, be able to meet deadlines (and be flexible when they change), and have a willingness to contribute new and creative ideas for managing data.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Assist R&D Director of Psychometrics with data management tasks
  • Provide data support with a variety of tasks during the data collection phase (e.g., run and edit scripts to automatically check incoming data for completeness)
  • Primary responsibility is to clean and organize data sets and maintain them to be ready for analysis at any time.
  • Create and manage Smartsheet and / or Excel databases to automate tracking and management of data collectors and sample targets
  • Document and archive work for replicability

Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities) :

  • A bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, computer science, or other research-related field
  • Minimum two years of experience in a research environment (broadly defined as academic, corporate, market, or medical) with data collection, cleaning, and analytics a plus
  • At least two years of demonstrated proficiency in coding in one or more of the following : R, Python, SPSS, Stata or similar languages. R is preferred.
  • At least two years of professional experience with database management and data analysis
  • At least two years of experience with data and database management in SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet or similar a plus
  • Demonstrated experience reporting descriptive data clearly and concisely in graphical and narrative formats a plus
  • Great collaborator and team player; motivated to learn and help others
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Strong systems / process orientation
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong attention to detail
