Building Energy Technology Development Strategist, Senior
Key Role :
Work collaboratively with energy sector clients to analyze program goals and ongoing and planned initiatives to assess gaps and recommend potential changes in approach.
Apply technical subject matter and market knowledge to guide the seeding and growth of publicly financed technology and innovation programs.
Characterize the state of a technical field, including identifying state-of-the-art technologies, with an initial focus on thermal energy storage, building energy management, HVAC integration, commercial and residential building retrofits, and developing energy technologies.
Perform technical analysis to recommend technology performance and cost targets to guide programming and management of client investments technology and innovation.
Identify key technical experts across academia, industry, and national labs, performing technical outreach and facilitating the formation of new multi-disciplinary technical communities.
Review technical proposals and support clients to establish selected projects, including advising on project plans and technical milestones for long lead time, and complex Research and Development (R&D) projects.
Perform direct, periodic oversight of portfolio projects' technical aspects, from set up to close out, aiding the client in managing projects towards clear and compelling outcomes.
Provide constructive critical feedback to support portfolio and project success.
Basic Qualifications :
- Experience with building energy technology approaches, utility programs, and benefits analysis
- Experience with whole-building integration, building envelopes and deep energy retrofits, thermal energy storage modeling, and data analysis
- Experience with residential and commercial building energy savings, technical thermal energy storage advancements, heat pumps, refrigerants, and HVAC system design and planning
- Knowledge of the technical arc and deployment trajectory of building technologies, including thermal energy storage technologies, policies and regulations, and thermal modeling analysis tools
- Knowledge of thermal energy system analysis and design, including integration of alternative energy systems and emerging HVAC solutions
- Knowledge of thermal system design cost factors and energy savings tradeoffs
- Knowledge of cold climate building energy development trends, markets, incentives and tax credits, regulations, data sources, and building energy technology commercialization challenges
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Master's degree
Additional Qualifications :
- Experience in a consulting environment
- Experience with project management
- Knowledge of developments and impacts of previous major programs, including Department of Energy's Buildings UP
- Possession of excellent data-gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred; Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Industrial Engineering a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
