The Project Development Specialist role works closely with the Director of Project Development to support companywide business development and strategic marketing related initiatives.
This will include implementation and execution of the business development and strategic marketing program. The program includes identifying, pursuing, and developing relationships within current and potential market segments.
Additionally, the role will lead the response to RFP solicitations by providing input and direction to the marketing department, drafting technical marketing content, develop fee proposals, and support contract / fee negotiations.
This position requires a technical and personable candidate with an ability to assist the business development team to present Maxson’s services in a compelling and innovative way.
The individual must have strong organizational skills, be energetic, have a creative mindset, and have professional writing and presentation competencies.
This position reports to the Director of Project Development and has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Participate in strategic Business Development planning
- Assist in the execution of the strategic business development plan
- Be a leader in fostering Business Development, Marketing & Sales within the firm culture
- Regularly meet with existing and potential Clients
- Assist in maintenance of the Client Relationship Management (CRM) Database
- Execute the Market Share Process focused on market segments / new clients / new business
- Lead Market Research initiatives to support broader company initiatives
- Work with technical staff to execute the Client Share Process focused on existing clients / growing existing business
- Lead the response for small and medium size project RFPs
- Participate in Industry Organizations and Associations Memberships and events
External Leadership / Community
- Develop an Inner Circle
- Have appropriate external relations
- Be a leader in Business Development oriented associations
- Assure that the organization is consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
Working Environment :
The work performed with this position will be primarily in a heated / cooled office environment. The job will also involve occasional trips for various business purposes.
The equipment this employee is expected to operate include a computer, copier / scanner, phone, plotter, field survey tablet and various other field survey equipment.
Lifting requirements are minimal (less than 1% of time) and typically does not exceed 30 pounds.

Requirements :
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in industry
- Understanding of consulting engineering industry and related deliverables
- Strong negotiating skills
- Passion to develop industry network to drive business prospects
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership
Desired Qualifications :
- Ability to travel overnight occasionally
- Experience utilizing a Client Resource Management (CRM) software (Deltek VantagePoint)
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field or equivalent experience
