JOB SUMMARY :

The Manager of Development Operations will serve a critical role in the Development department, and to the growth of philanthropy at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.

The manager is responsible for managing and optimizing organizational development processes to increase fundraising.

RESPONSIBILITES :

  • The Manager will oversee all aspects and management of the database and donor information, insuring the integrity of the database by performing routine audits, and will assure that all policies and procedures are followed, maintained and updated when necessary.
  • The Manager will be responsible for wealth screening and prospect research and will create donor prospect reports to be provided to the Director of Development to identify potential donors.
  • The Manager will create, implement and maintain a moves management system for all mid-level to major donor levels.
  • The Manager will oversee and participate in all aspects of gift processing. The manager will also be responsible for creating acknowledgement letter templates for all appeals and will assure that all gifts are acknowledged on a timely basis.
  • The Manager will create monthly analytical reports and dashboards for the Development staff and certain Board members when appropriate and would serve as a back-up to the Development coordinator on monthly reconciliation reports for the Finance department prepared by the Development coordinator.
  • The Manager will be responsible for tracking and monitoring departmental budget management.
  • The Manager will assure that all donors are recognized accordingly and will be responsible for managing and creating donor recognition materials such as but not limited to letters, gifts and plaques.
  • The Manager will be responsible for all mailing lists and the creation and execution of all direct mail and e-philanthropy initiatives.
  • Will work closely with the Director of Corporations and Foundations to track and report grant award expenditures and outcomes
  • Will train and oversee the Development Coordinator
  • Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.
  • Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.
  • Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.
  • Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years related Development experience (preferably in healthcare).
  • Must have Raiser’s Edge NXT experience and be skilled in extracting information from the database.
  • Must be available to work evenings, nights / weekends when needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Excellent written and oral communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel a must.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team.
  • Ability to work with and relate to community members and community organizations, Board of Trustees, patients and medical staff.

WORK SCHEDULE : This is a full-time salaried position, Monday-Friday (35 hours per week) on-site. Regular work hours are 8 : 00am -4 : 00pm.
