LHH is ramping up a search for a Senior Benefits Specialist in the Metro Detroit area. The Senior Benefits Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the design, administration, and communication of employee benefits programs.
This role requires a deep understanding of benefits regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic guidance to optimize benefits offerings.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop, implement, and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other fringe benefits.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing employee benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
Serve as the subject matter expert on benefits-related inquiries from employees, HR colleagues, and external vendors.
Analyze and evaluate benefit plan options, costs, and effectiveness to make recommendations for enhancements or changes.
Coordinate open enrollment processes, including communication, education, and enrollment system management.
Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and other statutory leave programs.
Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and consultants to negotiate contracts and resolve service issues.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance with plan provisions.
Collaborate with HRIS team to maintain benefits data integrity in HRIS and payroll systems.
Develop and deliver benefits-related training programs and communications to educate employees on their benefits options and resources.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. (Master’s degree and / or HR certification preferred)
Proven experience (5+ years) in benefits administration or a similar role, with a strong understanding of employee benefits programs and regulations.
Knowledge of benefits-related laws and compliance requirements (, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA).
Experience with benefits vendor management, negotiations, and contract administration.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze benefits data, trends, and costs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and communicate benefits information to employees.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software (, Workday, ADP, or similar systems).
