Are you an outstanding sales professional with experience selling to multiple levels of utility organizations? Do you have a track record of developing and cultivating a well-qualified sales pipeline, managing the sales process from start to close, and consistently meeting your targets?
E Source is looking for an energetic, passionate, and experienced sales director to join our rapidly growing sales team.
This solutions-based salesperson will drive new business in our utility-focused markets. Your primary focus will be on our Research and Advisory solutions with a secondary emphasis on our Data Science and Management Consulting solutions.
The account executive will develop and manage sales opportunities from lead generation to sales pursuit and close. The results-driven individual will partner with E Source engagement directors, subject matter experts, and our marketing teams to promote and sell E Source solutions to assigned accounts.
Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of developing and cultivating a well-qualified sales pipeline, managing the sales process from start to close, and consistently meeting their sales quota and targets.
You’ll have the demonstrated ability to sell to multiple levels in utility organizations and be a team player who can work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on proactively meeting client needs and contracting deadlines.
This position may require up to 65% travel (in accordance with public health guidelines) and the right candidate should be excited to meet in person with our clients and prospects.
The account executive may work remotely, but we’d prefer someone located close to our Boulder, Colorado, headquarters.
What you’ll do
- Manage sales opportunities from lead generation to sales pursuit and close
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities, participate in sales presentations, and lead the company’s response to qualified proposals
- Drive new business and help our client meet their targeted objectives
- Develop strategic account plans for assigned accounts
- Gain an understanding of prospective organizations’ business strategies and key challenges and share that with the team to ensure we offer the right solutions
- Participate in strategic sales meetings and assist in developing sales forecasts
- Manage account and opportunity updates in Salesforce and other applications

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills; strong negotiation and closing skills are a must
- 7+ years of experience selling to multiple levels of utility organizations, including the utility director level and above (preferred)
- Experience with complex sales cycles and complex solution sales to the utility industry, direct experience selling software, analytics, data science, or services preferred with a focus on solution-selling methodologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of utility disciplines such as customer experience, marketing, or customer energy programs (, demand-side management, renewables, EVs, and electrification / decarbonization programs)
- Ability to take a proactive approach to prospecting and leverage a network of individuals, vendors, and utility personnel to identify potential opportunities, conduct presales activities, and increase our pipeline and win rate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a proactive approach to meeting client needs and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Experience and proficiency with Salesforce or other customer relationship management systems

The budgeted salary for this position is $90,000 $120,000 plus an exciting commission-based bonus structure. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience of the candidate.
This person can work remotely, work a hybrid schedule, or preferably work from our Boulder, Colorado, headquarters.
